Do Dominicans really hate Haitians and what their background?

Welcome back to my blog, today we will deal with the subject of Do Dominicans really hate Haitians and what their background is so let's get started.

Since I was little in school, I have memories about what those around me in 2003 heard quite offensive things about those from the neighboring country and I did not know why and I had not placed much importance on it, I always saw that Haitians built houses and We did not have much relationship, they on their side and we on ours, I also observed Haitian women with many small children and pregnant women. The comments in my childhood were the type that those had no hygiene, that they did not bathe and that they ate disgusting things among other things, the comment was so normal that it did not sound offensive, until I saw one for the first time and in their language it called to another little thief maybe they joked with each other like that, his smell was characteristic but I imagine it was from having had a hard day at work. They taught me in school the story that in 22 years that we lived in submission and had to become independent from Haiti, they changed our culture and closed the universities among many other institutions. There the separation occurred, I remember hearing that Haitians proclaimed their land so much and that they still continued to proclaim it.

The comments were so normal that I came to believe that those things that the Dominicans said were true, it was not so common to see a Haitian and a Dominican being friends but if we went to the same school and had played with them. Then they transferred me to a middle class school and I had no further interaction with them I just saw them roaming the streets with their teams to work in the fields. Once in the field I saw that a Haitian and his family had been raised or adopted by a landowner farmer and I was surprised, the Haitian was rocking calmly in the hammock and they really had a very good relationship and raised all kinds of animals and the Haitian was happy. By then I was more mature and I could understand that what people said was not true, not all of them are rude and hygienic. Already in my adolescence I was in Taekwondo-do classes and I had a Haitian instructor, to tell the truth he did not generate confidence the first time but his big smile and his devotion to teaching was what changed the way I see Haitians, now he is my friend and he study 6 languages. He works in the best tourist sector on the island and has a great job as a manager of the fitness area, and he has helped me and my family when we need it, he has a good economic position and continues to improve.

In my adulthood I do not listen to the offensive comments of the past about Haitians, I have noticed that we treat each other better than before, the city of Santiago is full of them who have better economic positions than me there are many doctors and nurses and of all types of work, since they have dedicated themselves to study and have deserved their ports, I can assure you that what I most admire is their great desire to improve.

An African American asked me, are you friends with a Haitian? I looked at him badly for the absurd question and I said of course yes, he tells me the news tells me the opposite and I tell him that is the cycle of the news they like to sell and their press is tabloid, he tells me that they have had no help and I tell him that they are not so innocent, he says that if his own former president had not collaborated in his improvement.

However, I do not deny that there are people with that type of prehistoric and irrational mentality since in this world there is everything. Immigration is sometimes painful for some countries that, like us, are poor and cannot support two countries at the same time, we must find a solution. Let's join forces for Haiti.
